Grounding Techniques

Follow Your Breath

Close your eyes and focus on your breath. Inhale through your nose, and exhale out of your mouth. Observe the sensations of the air entering and exiting. Be present with what comes up.  

Time: 2 minute to 5 minutes.

 

Cover Your Crown

When you are ungrounded, place one hand over the crown your head. The pressure and attention to the sensation of your weight on your head can contribute to refocusing and centering.

Time: 30 seconds to 1 minute

Root In

You can do this sitting or standing however, it's recommended to be barefoot on the earth, Focus your awareness on the bottoms of your feet. Feel your weight on the entirety of your foot. Now, spread your toes out and try to grip the ground.

Time:  Four, 30 seconds intervals

 

Quick Shower

Water submersion creates physiological changes in the body which are potent tools for grounding. While in the shower, play with different temperatures, and focus on the sensation of the water running over your body. 

Time: 5 minutes to 10 minutes

Have you ever noticed how critters like cats and dogs roll around on the Earth? Try it.
